TestDisk

When I added memory for a vmware virtual server and rebooted yesterday, I found a vm disk lost unfortunately. It is a terrible for a system administrator.

The server is a linux server (RHEL5u4).And it did not happened before .

From Google, someone figure out it by fdisk, and recreated partition table .But it is not suitable for my trouble .

In the last, I found a powerful recovery tools “TestDisk” which could fix the ntfs,fat,ext2/3 partition, including with

  • Recover deleted partition

  • Rebuild partition table

  • Rewrite Master boot record (MBR)

  • file undeleted

  • The newest version is “TestDisk & PhotoRec 6.11.3” .This Linux version of TestDisk & PhotoRec should work on any 2.6 i386 or x86_64 kernel . It’s a static version, the binary doesn’t depend on shared libraries.
